Tourism TV Commercial Wins Telly AwardWanderlust recognized for Howe Caverns spot
BackApril 20, 2010 — Travel marketing and destination branding agency Wanderlust was recently recognized in the 31st annual Telly Awards for a television commercial they created for client Howe Caverns. The Troy-based agency’s 30-second television spot, titled “Go Underground,” earned the Bronze Telly Award in the Travel & Tourism category. “Video advertising was an integral component in our destination rebranding strategy for Howe Caverns,” according to Mark Shipley, President and Chief Strategic Officer at Wanderlust. “All of the footage was shot in high definition, on location in the caverns over 150 feet underground. The HD format allowed us to dramatically increase creative quality, yet by producing video for several different media at once, we were able to get more out of the Howe Caverns budget.” This is the second creative advertising award for the Howe Caverns’ spot, having earned the Award of Excellence in the Commercials/Amusements/Entertainment category of the 2009 Videographer Awards. Wanderlust’s Telly Award-winning spot was seen in select cable markets surrounding the destination in 2009, as well as cinema advertising and online. A long-form HD video was created for Video On Demand in select cable TV markets and reproduced as a souvenir DVD. The feature-length video was also edited into shorter online video clips for YouTube, metacafe, Break, Revver and others. Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online film and video. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, interactive agencies, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 states and countries around the world.
