Wanderlust launches new Mount Snow campaignDecember 9, 2008 —
BackTroy, NY – Destination branding and tourism marketing firm Wanderlust announced the launch of the 2008/2009 resort marketing campaign for Mount Snow Resort in Vermont. The campaign builds off the advanced snow making technology story developed last year, and asserts Mount Snow’s dominance with 251 fan guns, the most in North America. The campaign elements include digital billboards in high-traffic locations like the Holland Tunnel, banner advertising with behavioral retargeting, direct mail using RFM scoring to optimize lists and re-skinning the website with social media tools.
“More fan guns equals better snow and that’s exactly what the target wants to hear – in that quirky, laid-back Mount Snow style,” said Mark Shipley, President and Chief Strategic Officer at Wanderlust. “The message is on brand, on target and is being delivered in a campaign that utilizes new media to help us accomplish more with less.” This season, Wanderlust created a campaign with a bit more edge than kitsch with creative messages such as, “Mother Nature Meet Your Sugar Daddy” and “It’s Winter When We Say So.”
Located only 29 miles from Interstate 91, Mount Snow is Vermont’s closest big mountain to Northeast metropolitan areas and is in the Green Mountain National Forest, operating under a special use permit from the U.S. Forest Service. With 37 miles of trails and 80% snowmaking coverage, the resort opened Vermont’s only all-park mountain face this season – Carinthia. Converting 95 acres of trails into one massive park system, Carinthia includes rails, jumps, halfpipes, snowskate playground and over 125 additional freestyle features to choose from in the surrounding 12 full terrain parks.
