Destination Video Wins Silver Telly Award

Wanderlust recognized again for Howe Caverns online video

April 29, 2010 —

Travel and destination marketing agency Wanderlust was honored for a second time in the 31st annual Telly Awards. An online video they created for client Howe Caverns titled “Go Underground” earned the Silver Telly Award in the Travel & Tourism category. The Troy-based agency also won a Bronze Telly Award for a 30-second television spot, part of a destination rebranding campaign for Howe Caverns.

“This was an exciting project for the agency and Howe Caverns,” said Mark Shipley, President and Chief Strategic Officer at Wanderlust. “We knew video would be an integral component in our rebranding strategy. By exploiting the high definition video format and by producing video for several different media at once, we were able to dramatically increase the creative quality and extend our project budget.” This is the third creative advertising award for the Howe Caverns’ spot, having previously won the Bronze Telly and an Award of Excellence in the Commercials/Amusements/Entertainment category of the 2009 Videographer Awards.

All the video was shot on location, over 150-feet underground in the limestone passages of Howe Caverns. The award-winning online video was featured in banner ads placed in select networks and markets, as well video clips for YouTube, metacafe, Break, Revver and others. A long-form HD video was created for Video On Demand in select cable TV markets and reproduced as a souvenir DVD.

Founded in 1978, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online film and video. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, interactive agencies, and corporate video departments in the world. The Telly Awards receives over 13,000 entries annually from all 50 states and countries around the world.
